Diabetes is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States. While the disease transcends all racial and ethnic boundaries, it has a high prevalence among minority populations, especially African Americans. Research has demonstrated that diabetes can be prevented through education, exercise, and good nutrition habits.
